TeamFunz is meant to challenge you in similar ways while providing opportunities for travel, investment, equity growth, social and cultural exchanges, and fun, fun, fun.
We strive to achieve all of this through the medium of vacation ownership. We choose this because probably nothing else in the world can provide the variety and the intensity of stimulation. Through vacation ownership you are able to immerse yourself into a unique place and people like no tour operator would hope to do. TeamFunz is not for the faint of spirit or those who shun adventure. If you are willing we are able to give you a bolder side of life.
TeamFunz Project Phases
Although each project is fresh, new and unique, there are usually some similar phases, hurdles and obstacles to overcome and evolve through. We at TeamFunz do our very best to support each team in its growth and development through all the phases of Fun.
PHASE 1
Designing the Dream, Creating the Team. Like any project, from house foundations to rocket science, the preparation and foundation building are the slowest and most important steps. Where to target, When to move, Who to join forces with, etc? Once these things are set in place the momentum begins to pick up and the pace gets more enjoyable.
PHASE 2
Evaluating and Developing the Project and the Team. Measure twice and cut once. Double-check and get samples if possible. Rent other Team projects, meet with Team members; make sure everyone's goals are compatible.
PHASE 3
Purchase of Property or Land and Construction. Action flows forth in this exciting phase. The culmination of proper planning meets the energy of evolution and education to create wondrous results!
PHASE 4
Enjoyment and Care of the Dream Team Home. Working out unforeseen issues, maintenance, adjustments, and usage of the Holiday Home. Developing operational agreements, the ebb and flow of rental income, changes in team personnel, etc. These ongoing processes are the most challenging phase of all because the things that arise usually can't be planned for and require total flexibility.

Think about it-Just about everything practical and useful in life has been dreamed, invented, tooled, designed, manufactured, re-designed, polished, marketed, sold and distributed by Teams working together. You might think the great works of art are all solo efforts, but you would be wrong. What good is a De Vinci or Shakespeare without a Team of Actors, Assistants, Models & Gallery people to showcase the art? Everything worthwhile is a result of Teamwork. Your business or job is no doubt Teamwork dependant. Why should Vacation home ownership not take the same approach?
Coaching Clinics are brief introductions to the TeamFunz concepts and projects. Guided by qualified coaches and supported by our staff and resources, these clinics are free to the public and offer a great opportunity for you to meet other like-minded folks and learn about the Fun Freedom found in TeamFunz circles. We also offer clinics to teams who are in the various stages of development. Got a small group that is reluctant to take the final step? Got a team that needs some help working out some annoying problems? Is your team at a critical juncture and in need of a strategy session? History
Human society depends on teamwork, without it we would never have survived as a species. Our greatest achievements, from the pyramids to the space shuttle, are not possible as individuals. If you've played team sports you know the camaraderie and lifetime relationships that are developed. Sharing and sense of humor, both are intertwined at TeamFunz, are what really sets humans apart from the rest of the crewmembers here aboard Spaceship Earth.
At TeamFunz we have assembled a network staff that brings combined experience of over 100 years in the vacation, resort and fun times industry. We believe we have "seen it all" and that is why we believe in what we are doing here. We have seen the ins and outs and different avenues of Leisure Living and Vacation Ownership. What we have created is a Fun and Unique Alternative to the "business as usual" approach. We achieve the middle ground between Full ownership and Timeshare. These concepts work fine for many folks; they both have drawbacks that we seek to overcome.
Full ownership is everyone's dream but few can afford it. Vacation resorts are expensive and growing more so. Once you purchase it it's expensive to own. You need to pay people to keep an eye on it, and to maintain it's security and it's functionality. Does it really make sense to own something so expensive when you only visit it a few times a year? Is it emotionally satisfying or a constant worry? Renting it out helps with the bills but the wear and tear is amazing. Will you just be working so much to pay the bills that you can't enjoy it?
Timeshare is the fastest growing facet of vacationing. It uses a team approach to relieve some of the problems of ownership. Each purchaser takes a week thus spreading out the costs. Other owners around the world team up to trade time and give variety to their vacations. TeamFunz works in a similar way. But while timeshare is a faceless organization where owners never meet and interaction with employees is impersonal, TeamFunz depends on relationships. The costs of timeshare seem endless too. We wonder how maintenance fees for a single week can run $500-$800 per year. You have to pay a fee to be part of the exchange organization and another fee to actually make an exchange. Where's the lifetime of inexpensive vacations they promised when you bought the week? Try and sell your week. Most of the timeshare resales we see are far below what people paid for them. Strange considering other real estate appreciates with time. Timeshare and TeamFunz have one thing in common, you don't have to own the resort, having access to the FUN for awhile is just as good. Like we say, "I don't need to be a millionaire to live like one".
Magic Numbers
Over the ten plus years we have been developing TeamFunz we have found that certain formulas work better than others. This kind of experience will save you years of wandering around in the wilderness. The core of TeamFunz is the "Magic Number", the proper number of owners to purchase property and enjoy it with the most FUN for everyone. Our findings indicate five to seven people work best.
Consider, if you enter into a partnership with one other person or couple you are setting up a "Marriage and Divorce" situation. This means that with 50% ownership you are stalemated on any critical decision where you differ. Additionally, if something changes with the other partner you can be suddenly shifted into 100% ownership of the problems and expenses.
With three partners the possibility of owning a financial burden is still there. You can also get into an odd man out situation. Two parties suddenly decide they don't agree with anything the third one wants and forces their agenda.
Four is the minimum for a team effort but some of the same problems still arise. We recommend starting at five and being open to a few more. What is magical about five, six or seven? First and foremost is Fun is #1! With these numbers you still have 1 ¾ to 2 ½ months to use the property, more than most of us can reasonably expect to use it. This leaves time for rental income to offset expenses and flexibility in scheduling usage by the owners. For example, if a bill comes in for $100, with five owners you will owe only $20. Much easier to take. Similarly, if some one in the group wants to engage in that favorite American pastime of SUEING the incentive is much less when they only own 12-20%. It's a lot easier to sell out or settle when the stakes are low. Things are more workable from a human side too. Many counselors recommend that the best size for group therapy is 5-10. Small enough so every one is heard, large enough to keep things more business like and less personal.
If you go much beyond eight people things start to become impersonal. Fifty-two people owning the same condominium, i.e. timeshare, ends up becoming a faceless corporation. Every issue has to be sent to a committee and no one feels like they are heard. There are "Natural Laws" that seem to make things work in the human equation. Just like those going too slow on the freeway can cause accidents and those going too fast are equally dangerous. Hot tubs and ovens have "just right" temperatures; the difference between undercooked and overcooked, useable nourishment and garbage.
